ADI TRAINING
 

Ian’s Limited have been the premiere driving school in the North Down area for over fifteen years and have more than twelve years experience and expertise in training potential driving instructors (P.D.I.’s), as well as the thousands of people who have passed their car and motorcycle tests.

Ian’s A.D.I. training services specialises in training P.D.I.’s for the three qualifying exams which need to be passed to become a fully qualified driving instructor. Over recent years there has been a very high success rate for the many P.D.I.’s we have trained, with quite a number passing all three exams on their first attempt – almost unheard of some years ago.

 
Driver Vehicle Testing Agency (D.V.T.A) Requirements
You must:

a) Have held a full car licence for four years or more and be over 21 years of age.

b) Be able to read a car number plate 79 millimetres in height and 57 millimetres wide from a distance of 27.5 metres (90 feet).

c) Be of good character to have your name entered on the register.  All convictions, including motoring offences still in force will be taken into account when the registrar assesses your suitability.

d) Pass the compulsory three part examination within a two year period.

 Ian's ADI Training Services - Exam Preparation

Part 1 Exam

This consists of 100 multiple choice questions and a hazard perception test.  Both parts of the test must be passed at the same time.  At Ian’s A.D.I Training Services we supply a self-study distance learning pack consisting of question booklets, CD roms plus all essential books for all exam parts.  These have been enthusiastically received by P.D.I’s.

Part II Examination and Training

This is a practical test of your driving skills in the form of an advanced driving test. You will be asked to drive in brisk business-like fashion in a style that can be taught to pupils.  The standard is high, as you are limited to 6 minor driving errors, in the space of 60-75 minutes driving and manoeuvres.

If your driving is to a reasonably good standard we would expect you to need 4-6 two hour driving lessons on a one to one basis to enable you to pass this exam – personalised for the individual.

Part III Examination and Training

Part III – The test of your ability to instruct is in two parts each of which lasts about 30 minutes.  You will be asked in a role-play situation to demonstrate your knowledge and ability to teach a learner with limited experience and then a learner approaching test standard.

Training for this examination is intensive and requires utmost dedication to be fully prepared.

Ian’s A.D.I. Training Services has a wealth of experience and knowledge to help P.D.I.’s pass this exam.

In relation to the Part 3 exam and for future teaching purposes we have compiled all our experience and knowledge into producing our own training manual.

Preparation for this exam is vital.  Depending on the individual it would take around 20 (2 hour) training sessions.  Too many P.D.I.’s consistently fail this exam due to insufficient and incorrect training.

In passing Part I and Part II of the qualification you then become eligible for a Trainee Licence. This enables you to instruct potential candidates for driving lessons.

At Ian’s Limited we have a high standard of teaching and reputation to maintain therefore PDI’s must undergo intensive training before allocated potential candidates - this also gains a PDI a high standard of training and knowledge which is essential to proceed on to Part III, the final exam in becoming an A.D.I.

·        Explanation and use of diagrams to enable you to instruct and deliver a driving lesson to the highest standard.

·        To participate in role-play situations with Ian on a one to one basis.

·        To sit in on live driving lessons instructed by our professional fully qualified driving instructors.
